Guide Orion O635CS Thermal Clip-On

The Guide Orion O635CS Thermal Clip-On gives you a wide, high-resolution thermal picture in front of your day scope, with nothing to re-zero and nothing to relearn. It is the higher-resolution unit in the Orion C Series, and the extra detector pixels show up as cleaner edges on animals at distance. At 285g and 99 x 73 x 68mm it stays out of the way on the rifle.

More pixels on target at the same 1800 metres

The 640x512 detector at 12µm pitch is paired with a 35mm lens for a 1800m detection range. Where it earns its money is the field of view: 12.5° x 9.4°, or about 22 x 17 metres of ground at 100 metres. That is a lot of country in one glance, so you spend less time hunting for an animal you already know is there and more time confirming what it is.

Fine temperature separation on cold ground

NETD is rated at 15mK across the 8 to 14µm band. The lower that figure, the smaller the temperature difference the sensor can resolve, which is what matters on a still night after the paddock has cooled and everything is sitting within a few degrees of everything else. The 50Hz frame rate keeps a running pig looking like a pig rather than a blur.

A 1080p display so the detail survives the trip to your eye

Detector resolution counts for little if the screen throws it away. The Orion O635CS uses a 0.49-inch AMOLED at 1920 x 1080, running at 1x magnification so your day optic sets the magnification as usual. Seven palettes are available, from White Hot and Black Hot through to Iron Red, Blue Hot and Sepia.

Field power and weatherproofing

One replaceable 18500 battery gives roughly 7 hours of running, and USB-C is there for external power. The body is IP67 sealed and rated from -20°C to 50°C, so dew, frost and a wet ute tray are not a problem.
