The HIKMICRO Alpex 4K A50E Digital Night Vision Scope IR Illuminator Kit is a day and night scope that works with whatever light is available, and with the supplied IR illuminator when there is none. Unlike a thermal, it shows you the animal as it actually looks, in full colour by day and clean black and white after dark, so identification is never in question. The traditional 30 mm tube body means it mounts in standard rings the same as any day scope.
A 4K sensor is what makes the detail hold at distance
The detector is a 3840 × 2160 UHD CMOS, which is a lot of pixels to spend on digital zoom before the picture starts falling apart. Magnification runs 3.5x to 28x and Zoom Pro sharpens the image as you push in. The 0.49 inch sub-round OLED display at 1920 × 1080 shows it without introducing its own softness. Field of view is 15.3 × 8.6 degrees, and detection runs to 1000 m.
Enough lens for low light, plus IR when there is none
The 50 mm lens has an adjustable aperture from F1.2 to F2.5, so you can open it up under a thin moon or stop it down in brighter conditions. The kit ships with an IR illuminator for the genuinely dark nights, and the scope responds in the near infrared at 850 nm and 940 nm. Day, Night and Auto modes let it switch behaviour without you thinking about it. The frame rate is 50 Hz, which keeps the picture smooth when you swing onto a running pig.
Battery and build for a full night out
Run time is 11 hours continuous from two internal rechargeable Li-ion cells plus one external replaceable 18650, charged at 5 V DC over USB-C. The scope is IP67 rated and works from -30°C to 55°C, which covers frosty mornings in the high country and a hot night in the north. It weighs 1080 g for the scope alone and measures 439.8 × 71.4 × 84 mm, with diopter adjustment from -5D to +5D. Snapshot, video and audio recording are on board, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and a standby mode to save battery between sits.
