HIKMICRO NEOS NH25L Thermal Scope

Knowing the range before you take the shot is the difference between a clean kill and a wounded animal in the dark. The HIKMICRO NEOS NH25L Thermal Scope puts a laser rangefinder and ballistic calculation into a mid-priced thermal scope, on top of a sharper detector than the base NEOS model. It is aimed at shooters doing regular night pest work who want their holdover worked out for them.

A sharper detector for cleaner target ID

The 320 x 240 detector with 12 µm pixel interval feeds more picture information to the screen than a smaller array, which shows up as a more readable animal shape at distance. Detection range is 1200 m through the 25 mm lens. NETD sits at less than 18 mK, and because a lower NETD means the sensor can split finer temperature differences, game stays visible against cooled ground well after midnight. The response waveband is 8 µm to 14 µm at 50 Hz.

Range and ballistics built in

The onboard laser rangefinder reads to 1000 m and feeds the ballistic calculation, so instead of guessing how far out that pig is you get a measured distance and a corrected aiming point. On unfamiliar country, where there are no known landmarks to range off, that is the feature that pays for itself.

Smooth image with no shutter interruption

Image Pro 3.0, the shutterless HSIS system and the Sync Pro algorithm work together to keep the image continuous and the latency low, with no periodic freeze while the sensor recalibrates. The 0.49 inch AMOLED display runs 1920 x 1080 with an 8 mm exit pupil and -4D to 4D dioptre adjustment. Magnification runs 3.5x to 24.5x over a field of view of 7.0° x 5.3°, which works out to 12.2 m x 9.3 m at 100 m. Six palettes including Black Hot, White Hot and Fusion let you pick whatever separates the animal from the scrub on the night.

Built to stay out

An internal rechargeable battery plus a replaceable external 18650 gives 9 hours continuous running with the rangefinder on. Charging is Type-C 5 V DC / 2 A with QC3.0 support. The scope weighs 550 g, measures 345.6 mm x 86.1 mm x 75.8 mm, is IP67 rated and runs from -30°C to 55°C, so dew, dust and a cold morning in the paddock are non-events.
