HIKMICRO Stellar SQ35L 3.0 Thermal Scope

At the top of the Stellar range the argument is simple. More detector pixels, a big high resolution display and a rangefinder that feeds the ballistics, so the scope makes fewer demands on you at three in the morning. The HIKMICRO Stellar SQ35L 3.0 Thermal Scope combines all three, and it is the model for shooters who take night work seriously enough to want the best picture available before compromises start.

640 x 512 detail at 15 mK

The 640 x 512 detector with 12 µm pixel interval puts far more picture information on the same scene than the smaller arrays used further down the range, which is what lets you tell a pig from a wombat well before you close the distance. NETD is less than 15 mK, meaning the sensor resolves very small temperature differences. That is the specification that keeps working when the ground has cooled, the dew is down and everything in frame is close to the same temperature. Detection range through the 35 mm F1.0 lens is 1800 m, with a 50 Hz frame rate across the 8 µm to 14 µm waveband.

Range to 1000 metres with ballistics

The built-in laser rangefinder reads to 1000 m and drives the ballistic calculation, so the scope gives you the distance and the corrected aiming point together. On unfamiliar ground with no fence posts or trees to judge against, that turns a guessed holdover into a known one.

Wide field on a big screen

Magnification starts at 2.5x with a field of view of 12.5° x 10.0°, or 21.9 m x 17.5 m at 100 m. That is a genuinely wide base view for a scope, which makes finding and following moving game far easier than hunting for it at high zoom. Digital zoom runs to 24.5x for identification. The 1.03 inch OLED display runs 2560 x 2560 with a 6 mm exit pupil and -4D to 4D dioptre adjustment, and Image Pro 2.0 with the shutterless HSIS system keeps the image running without recalibration pauses.

Nine hours, sealed against the weather

Two internal rechargeable lithium batteries and a replaceable external 18650 give 9 hours continuous running, charged over Type-C at 5 V DC / 2 A with QC3.0. It measures 410 mm x 85 mm x 86.3 mm, weighs 830 g without the external battery, is IP67 rated and runs from -30°C to 55°C.
