The HIKMICRO Thunder TQ50CL 4.0 is a thermal clip-on attachment that fits in front of your existing day scope, turning it into a day/night optic without disturbing your zero. It suits hunters and pest controllers working open paddocks and timber where foxes, pigs and deer need to be picked up well before they close the distance. The unit pairs a high-sensitivity 640 × 512 sensor with a 50mm lens, a built-in laser rangefinder and a more compact magnesium alloy housing than earlier Thunder models.

High-Sensitivity Thermal Imaging: The Thunder 4.0 TQ50CL features a 640 x 512 pixel thermal sensor with a 12 µm pixel pitch and a thermal sensitivity (NETD) of less than 12 mK. That level of sensitivity means the camera is picking up very small temperature differences against the background, so you get cleaner outlines on an animal's body against grass, scrub or a cool night sky rather than a washed-out blob.

Long-Range Detection: A 640x512, 12µm sensor with NETD below 12mK and a 50mm F1.0 lens give a detection range of 2600m, and it is recommended for day scopes of 1-15x magnification. The field of view is 8.8° × 7.0°, giving a view of 15.4 × 12.2 m at 100 m. That field of view keeps enough context around the target for you to track movement at distance without losing the bigger picture.

Built-In Laser Rangefinder: A 1200m laser rangefinder is built into the lens , so you can confirm range in the same view rather than reaching for a separate rangefinder. The laser rangefinder measures distances from 10 to 1,200 m, using a 905 nm, Class 1 laser, with an accuracy of ±1 m under 400 m and ±0.3 m beyond 400 m. That precision is useful both for ethical shot placement and for dialling in ballistic data on longer-range setups.

Clear Display and Image Processing: the 1920x1080 0.49-inch OLED display works with Image Pro 4.0, the HIKMICRO Shutterless Image System and Sync Pro for clear, low-lag viewing. Together these keep the picture steady and free of the brief freeze you get on older shutter-based thermal units, which matters when you are tracking a moving animal through timber. The zeroing-free design with 1 MOA adjustments keeps setup simple.

Runtime and Build Quality: Rated to 6000J recoil and IP67, it records to 64GB of internal storage and runs for 6 hours on the HM-3840DC battery. The housing and lens cap are built from a magnesium alloy, keeping the unit solid enough for paddock and vehicle work while staying manageable to carry. Power is drawn from two replaceable HM-3840DC batteries, so a charged spare keeps you going through a full night without needing to sit next to a charger.
